My Book

bookcoverI am writing this, to talk about why I wrote my book, and to encourage you to read it. You can find it by going to my web page and clicking on the link. If you have enjoyed reading my blog and the thoughts I have expressed, then it makes sense that you read my book. LOVE, PLEASE A memoir of Destiny, Loss and Healing.

It is a timeless love story between a man and a woman from opposite sides of the world. They meet in Tokyo when she is there on tour, and each immediately realizes they are soul-mates. Their story unfolds over a period of seventeen years, from the mid-nineteen seventies to the early nineties, chronicling the extraordinary adventure of their lives together. Satoru Oishi is a Japanese architect and sculptor who works with Jasper Johns and Phillip Johnson. Susana Hayman-Chaffey is a soloist with The Merce Cunningham Dance Company. The backdrop is their Manhattan loft, from which they travel around the world making a living any way they can, learning about life through dramatic, often humorous, ups and downs.

It is a voyage of love between two people, their families, friends, and children. It encourages and inspires us to keep the faith in the midst of what seems to be an impossible life journey, proving that, with courage and determination, anything can be accomplished. It is a human story told simply and honestly about life and love.

These last two paragraphs are the description of the book on the back cover. Now, to why I wrote it, I wanted to help anyone who might be going through challenges, to know that they were not alone. It is said that one teaches by example, and my hope is that, with this account anyone can find their own way to meet the challenges that life presents them with. Life and the living process is a mystery, that we can discover and examine on a daily basis. We wake up every morning with the possibility to write our personal story, our history. This very unique and fascinating account of each and every one of our lives. There are no two alike, which is why I am fascinated with how each one expresses that destiny.

That you found me and my blog because you are searching for answers, is an example of how life works in mysterious ways. If something I write can help you find an answer, or encourage you to think more deeply about something; that is important because you become a richer person, you can then pass on to others what you are learning. Exchanging ideas and thoughts is fundamental to our ability to touch others, and to be touched by them in return. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t learn something new, that inspires me to look further. We, as a race benefit from the search for knowledge and understanding. The more we can discover, the better the chances of us not being judgmental, confrontational and intolerant. These three words being so negative! We need to be more open, inclusive, and accommodating. It makes us feel better about ourselves and makes others feel better about us. It is a win win situation.

So as Rudyard Kipling addresses one of his characters in his Jungle book collection of stories, (Dearly beloved). I write to all who find themselves here, be strong of will and kind of heart for this way you can begin to be the very best of yourselves.
